'Jane the Virgin' season 3 spoilers: New clue on Michael's safe fate dropped; Jane's childhood crush makes things more complicated

Awkward date with Jane, Rafael and Michael in "Jane the Virgin" season 2 The CW

Michael's (Brett Dier) fate will be revealed in "Jane the Virgin" season 3, but lead star Gina Rodriguez teased that her on-screen new husband will be part of the next season, but remained coy about it.

"I think you're going to see Michael," the actress told Wetpaint. "I don't know if he's alive or dead but you're going to see him," she went on to say.

The real situation of Michael, who was shot by Susanna (who is actually Rose in disguise) in "Jane the Virgin" season 3 has many worrying, especially with the narration in the first season of the show.

In the "Chapter Ten" episode, after Michael declared his belief that he and Jane belong together, the narrator said "And for as long as Michael lived, until he drew his very last breath, he never did."

Harking back to this moment and the one in the season 2 finale, it is easy to imagine that Michael's life was always meant to be cut short.

However, TV Line pointed out that Drier was still part of the first table read for "Jane the Virgin" season 3, which the site believes that he has some lines to deliver.

This means that he might not be as dead as many worried after all. Whether or not this is the case, fans will have to wait until "Jane the Virgin" season 3.

Michael won't be the only person Jane will be dealing with in the new season. As if things are not complicated enough for her in the love department, "Jane the Virgin" season 3 will also set the arrival of her childhood crush Sam.

Sam has known Jane longer than Michael and Rafael (Justin Baldoni), who appears to still have feelings for her. Sam is described as "intellectual and sexy" and his connection to Jane "has a surprising impact on the present."

"Jane the Virgin" season 3 premieres Monday, Oct. 17, at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
