It seems that the happiness of the second season of "Jane the Virgin" series was short-lived, since the season finale featured Michael getting shot during his wedding with Jane. As such, a lot of fans question whether or not the third season will feature Michael alive and well.

According to Yibada, fans of the show are pretty divided on Michael's fate; after all, the second season finale left a major cliffhanger and that the shocking turn of events caused a major uproar among the fans. However, Jane's actress Gina Rodriguez assures the fans that they have not seen the last of Michael and will see more of him in the upcoming season. She said that she does not know whether or not Michael will be alive or dead, so fans are now speculating that Michael will return as a ghost instead.

However, Ecumenical News says that the Twitter photos presented by the writers of "Jane the Virgin" show Brett Dier (Michael) and Justin Baldoni (Rafael) seemingly at ease as one of the team's members took a photo. The caption reads, "First table read of Season 3! All smiles on a Monday." With this, fans hope to see Michael alive come the third season, or at least have good things on the way.

Regardless, fans will not need to wait long to find out Michael's fate as Jennie Urman, the executive producer of the show, hinted previously that the answer to this question will be revealed early once "Jane the Virgin" has its newest season underway. Also, she revealed that it is possible for Jane to lose her virginity not too far into the show's future, should Michael come back alive and well.

The third season of "Jane the Virgin" will be scheduled to air on Oct. 17 on The CW.
