While fans continue to cross their fingers for the release of the dream collaboration between J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar, the two biggest hip hop stars today seem to be a little preoccupied with other projects at the moment.

Reports claim that Lamar has worked with Mister F.A.B. on the latter's upcoming album called "Son of a Pimp." According to reports, that rapper worked with F.A.B. for the song "Survive," where he gives a glimpse of his thoughts regarding the dangers of living on the streets.

"You ever been a victim of being a prisoner inside your own mind? / The bright lights of the street lights will make you go blind / Handicap your senses, you was just an apprentice of watching n-ggas jump fences / Now you in the Olympics and your hurdle was high enough to clear the tallest of clothes lines," goes Kendrick's line.

The "King Kunta" rapper also worked with Beyoncé on her latest album "Lemonade."

On the other hand, J. Cole is also gearing up for a big concert in South Africa with some of the countries local hip hop artists and DJs.

The "Love Yourz" rapper also earned a new title after being hailed as 2015's highest-earning rapper based on Billboard's Top Money-Makers List. According to Hip Hop DX, Cole earned a lot of money during his 2014 Forest Hills Drive Tour and from the sales of his Forest Hills Drive album that came out in 2014.

But it does not mean that the J. Cole-Kendrick Lamar project will no longer happen. Despite the absence of official statements from both camps, fans are still holding on to the statements of Top Dawg Entertainment president Dave Free that both rappers could still work together for a collaboration album in the future.

"A joint album does sound great, but people need to understand, these are two geniuses," Free told MTV News in January this year. "These are two creative guys. It takes a long time for one of them to get in a space to create a song, so to get two of them in a space to do that, it takes a lot of time and energy. It all has to be a singular project, but it just can't happen overnight."
