It remains unknown if an Apple iPad Mini 5 will arrive soon. The tablet series has been a no-show in this year's launch events — no leaks and no word about it. However, it is still speculated that the fifth iteration could arrive in March 2017 alongside the iPad Pro 2.

The iPad Mini 5 is overdue, according to Apple aficionados. The current model that came in with major design changes, upgraded internals, and new features was released in September 2015. It was considered to be one of the best 8-inch tablets around. Many are now wondering what will the next generation offer.

There are several rumors surrounding the anticipated device. Some suggest that it will have sharper corners instead of the round ones. Others think that it will still have a similar design like its predecessor, but it will have a thinner and lighter. This could possibly happen if the tech giant uses the 7000-series aluminum with the tablet's chassis. This is the same material used in the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus that made those more durable while maintaining a lighter weight. It also made it less bendable, Mac World UK reported.

A Smart Connector could also be incorporated into its new design. This will allow its users to use a keyboard case, which will allow a better performance when doing lengthy compositions. Currently, it is only available for the iPad Pro models. A 3D Touch feature would be a nice feature to add and will definitely have the latest operating system version, the iOS 10. IP 68 protection could also make its way to the latest model, as well as Apple Pencil support.

The alleged iPad Mini 5 is also speculated to provide more hours of use, due to advancement in technology when it comes to battery management and the higher efficiency of its components. New internal components might include an A9 processor, at least 2 GB RAM, 16 GB to 128 GB of internal storage, and other modules. MobileNApps suggests that Apple could also replace the 3.5 mm headphone jack with a USB-C port, similar to the latest iPhone.

There is really no way of knowing what Apple is planning for its iPad Miniseries at the moment. Everybody is waiting for the company's next move.
