"Injustice 2" is the continuation of the epic story introduced in "Injustice: Gods Among Us," which was released in 2013. The highly anticipated sequel introduces new characters, as well as new challenges for players to undertake.

A new trailer has been released for NetherRealm Studios' "Injustice 2" and it reveals that new characters, such as "Mortal Kombat" character and Lin Kuei leader Sub-Zero, Batman's second protégé Red Hood, and exiled Tamaranean royal Starfire, are joining the roster of playable characters in the game and part of the first Fighter Pack downloadable content (DLC).

According to GameSpot, Fighter Pack 1 will come bundled with the game's Digital Deluxe Edition, priced at $80, and Ultimate Edition, priced at $100. The latter, however, is said to include six more DLC fighters. Other characters that have already been revealed include Joker, Brainiac, and Darkseid.

The trailer also gives a sneak peek at some of the characters' alternative outfits and unlockable gear, as well as the different planets of the Multiverse, which are said to contain "modifiers" that can change the gameplay. The Multiverse constantly changes, and as a player climbs up the ladder, the challenges he/she faces will also increase, as well as the rewards. Each challenge will give players an opportunity to earn new gear for their characters.

"Injustice 2" boasts having the biggest roster of DC characters in a game. According to US Gamer, it will have around 40 characters, featuring superheroes like Batman, Superman, Aquaman, The Flash, Supergirl, and many more. It also features supervillains, such as Bane, Poison Ivy, Gorilla Grodd, Deadshot, and Atrocitus, to name a few.

In other news, NetherRealm Studios creative director Ed Boon announced on Twitter earlier this year that they will be releasing a mobile version of the game as well, just like the previous game "Injustice: Gods Among Us." The release date, however, has yet to be revealed.

"Injustice 2" will be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 16.
