After months of leaks and teasers, Huawei has finally made its flagship iteration, the P9, official. Currently, it is unclear if the new flagship will have a U.S. release.

At a press event held Wednesday in London, the China-based tech manufacturer unveiled the P9 lineup, the latest flagship offering for Huawei fans. The reveal itself may have been only a formality for some, since the Huawei P9 has already been leaked and speculated on numerous times prior.

True to how Huawei hinted at some of its marketing teasers, one of the main features of the new lineup is its camera setup. The dual-cam assembly on the back of the flagship has been made in partnership with Leica, and first impressions of its image and video capture features are favorable.

The two cameras on the back consist of lenses for monochrome and color image captures, and according to Collen Kriel of SiliconAngle, "The monochrome sensor has 300 percent better light capture and 50 percent more contrast." This means that images processed by the Huawei P9 will have better colors even in low-light conditions.

In addition, the dual-cam setup also features laser autofocus and automatic depth calculation.

As for its other features, the specs sheet lists a Kirin 955 processor with 3GB and 4GB RAM versions.

The P9 lineup consists of two base model versions and the larger P9 Plus, and it will go on sale on April 16 across Europe and in the U.K., as well as in Middle East. Some observers have also revealed that Huawei plans to launch the P9 lineup on the U.S. market sometime later this year.

However, this runs contrast to what The Wall Street Journal claims. According to the industry follower, although Huawei aims to place the P9 in a competition with other flagship giants like Samsung and Apple, the company has no plans to introduce its P9 lineup in the U.S.
