Android M operating system (OS) is coming and the latest models HTC One M8,  One M9, and One M9+ are on the list of phones confirmed to receive the OS upgrade.

The confirmation came from HTC Corp's Senior Communications Manager, Jeff Gordon, who announced on Twitter that the phones mentioned above will get the upcoming update.

Initially, there were doubts that HTC One M8 would receive the Android M update, but according to Neurogadget, HTC Vice President of Product Management Mo Versi confirmed that the said device will also be getting Android M.

Android M, also called Android Marshmallow, was only revealed a few weeks ago and had been kept in silence for quite a while.

The specific release date for the OS update has not been divulged yet; however, according to Neurogadget, Google has been planning to make the update available to everyone by this month or the next. It will reportedly arrive through Huawei Nexus 6 and LG Nexus 5.

Android M had a series of developer's preview released for beta testers back in May, and the beta versions are still downloadable at the moment.

Those who want to try out the new upgrade can download it and send a feedback over to Google. However, installing the preview will only cause the device to revert to its master settings.

Marshmallow is said to bring several big changes to devices. The most notable of them are the platform and application program interface (API) change.

It was noted by AndroidPit that Android M will have an updated Final Permissions User Interface, as well as changes to the Fingerprint API to make error reports more efficient and fingerprint enrollment a more convenient experience.

Other changes arriving with Marshmallow include an auto backup and restore for apps, new face for the app drawer, a RAM manager for the OS update, and a dark theme option for the menu background.
