TV politics is expected to become more interesting when "House of Cards" returns to Netflix for season 5.

In season 4, the Underwoods were at odds with each other after Claire (Robin Wright) decided to leave Frank (Kevin Spacey) to begin her own political ambition. The two were constantly seen at each other's throats all throughout the season, until the power couple were brought back together after an assassination attempt on the U.S. president.

But will the situation remain until the critically acclaimed series airs for its next season?

HOF Magazine speculated that Frank could possibly step down from the Oval Office due to the aftermath of the article written by Tom Hammerschmidt (Boris McGiver). But other speculations claim that Frank will be forced to get out of the White House. There are also rumors saying that Claire will step up to be the main protagonist in season 5.

Meanwhile, executive producer Dana Brunetti talked about the departure of showrunner Beau Willimon before the start of "House of Cards" season 5 production.

"But Beau — I mean, he is one of the most amazing writers out there, and for as young as he is we have a lot more material to come from him, and believe me I'm gonna be hitting him for some," Brunetti told The Hollywood Reporter. "And now that I'm doing this, I'm kind of glad that he's out of House of Cards because maybe I can get him on something of mine [at Relativity]!"

Brunetti also said that season 4 is the show's best season since it premiered in 2013, but they will move forward until the next season.

"We're definitely doing season five — that's all we have a commitment to. Look, I'll keep doing it for as long as we can, as long as it's still good," the executive producer said.

"House of Cards" season 5 is expected to come out in 2017.
