Rumors suggest that Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) will die in the upcoming fifth season of "House of Cards." But it is not just Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly) who is interested to rise in power; Claire (Robin Wright), Frank's wife, is also eyeing the position.

It was previously reported that Frank will be betrayed by Doug, and Claire may also do the same to her husband because of a thirst for power; being second in command of the country wouldn't make her happy at all. Fans are speculating that she will assume the presidency after Frank is gone, which is speculated to happen early in the season.

Fans are discussing possible scenarios that can happen on the show, and one is Claire will threaten to expose her husband's dirty work, which Frank wouldn't want to happen, thus he will concede and let his wife win the snap election. Another possible situation is people will see the president as someone who cannot perform his job anymore and will opt to choose Claire to continue leading the country, Ecumenical News surmised.

The report also mentioned that based on the book, Frank died when he took the bullet intended for his wife.  The U.K version of the series, on the other hand, showed that Claire was the mastermind behind the president's assassination. Now, the U.S. interpration of the book may also opt for any of the two versions to bring down Frank.

Previously, it was reported that Sigourney Weaver is rumored to be joining the Emmy nominated show in its upcoming season and is said to be portraying a villain. However, no official word has been made released yet.  Additionally, Spacey is reported to be the upcoming head of Relativity Media's movie division, Netflix's direct competitor, which is the reason why he needs to leave the show.

"House of Card" season 5 will feature a new set of screenwriters, Melissa James Gibson and Frank Pugliese, who replaced Beau Willimon.  The duo is expected to create a storm on the show, Movienewsguide mentioned.

"House of Cards" season 5 will air in 2017 on Netflix.
