With the release of "House of Cards" season 4, fans are already looking forward to finding out what happens next to Frank and Claire Underwood in the fifth season of the political drama series.

Netflix dropped "House of Cards" season 4 on March 4, but speculations about season 5 have begun to circulate after Claire (Robin Wright) started showing signs of ruthlessness and penchant for corruption during the final moments of the fourth season.

But according to several speculations, the fifth season of "House of Cards" could be its last following the exit of series creator Beau Willimon after season 4.

Willimon's departure was announced in January this year, when he revealed in a statement shared by The Hollywood Reporter that he would move on to work on to other projects. Lead actor and executive producer Kevin Spacey then announced in February that Willimon will be replaced by Melissa James Gibson and Frank Pugliese as the show's new showrunners.

But since Netflix only renewed the show for another season, Netflix Life speculates that this could be the last installment of the series.

According to the report, the entertainment streaming network could easily announce that "House of Cards" will be around for several seasons more just like what it did with "Orange Is the New Black." But since the renewal is only good for season 5, it could mean that the show will be ending after the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, several speculations about the plot of season 5 are now going around online. According to Romper, several fans believe that Frank's (Spacey) declaration of war could end the political ambition of the Underwoods.

The report also claimed that Claire could beat her husband in the upcoming season, which means that the first lady of the Unites States can outshine her husband's political career. There are reports claiming that Frank could possibly die in season 5.

Netflix has yet to announce the release date of "House of Cards" season 5.
