Fans will be seeing a sixth season of the action thriller series "Homeland." Season 5 ended with fan favorite Peter Quinn hanging on for dear life, and a possible love triangle in the making. The last episode showed Carrie reading a letter written by Quinn to the agent, revealing his true feelings for Carrie. Vulture reports that the letter ended with the words, "I loved you."

According to Movie News Guide, the premiere date for season six will be on Oct. 2, 2016.

The latest season also ended with a hanging marriage proposal that Carrie's philanthropist boss, Otto Düring, makes to her, which fans suspect to be out of a hidden political agenda and not out of love. Whatever the motive may be, ex-CIA agent Mathieson's love life may just get a bit more complicated in season 6, and fans will have to wait to see who she ends up with.

As per Quinn, it is yet to be known if he survives or if the fifth season really did end with his death. If it's the latter, then there really wouldn't be a love triangle to begin with. The last scene of the season ender shows Carrie toying around with Quinn's heart monitor and blocking the door, which gives the notion that Carrie will try to kill Quinn or already has.

Rotten Tomatoes gives "Homeland" a critic rating of 90 percent for all seasons combined. Season 1 had the highest rating with 100 percent.

Homeland is an American action drama television series by Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa, which is based on Gideon Raff's Israeli series "Hatufim," translated into English as "Prisoners of War." The series follows Carrie Mathison, a Central Intelligence Agency officer with bipolar disorder. Mathieson chases after a prisoner of war turned al-Qaeda, Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) who was held captive and- as Carrie suspects- was turned by the militant group.
