Steve McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin) and the rest of the team will immediately spring into action to keep Hawaii safe from a roaming vigilante in the premiere episode of "Hawaii Five-0" season 7.

According to the synopsis for the episode titled "Makaukau 'oe e Pa'ani? (Ready to Play?)" that was released by CBS, "When the bodies of two serial killers are found on Five-0 property with chess pieces in their mouths, McGarrett and the team hunt for a vigilante as fear grows that tourists aren't safe in Hawaii."

This means that McGarrett will not have a proper resting period after undergoing a major surgery to treat the serious wounds that he incurred at the end of season 6 in spite of the disproval of his friend and partner, Danny Williams (Scott Caan). The two are expected to have a hospital scene together since Danny was the one who donated a part of his liver to help McGarrett recover.

In an interview with TVLine, showrunner Peter M. Lenkov revealed that Danny will try to make McGarrett realize that he is very fortunate to be given a second chance in life. This will be shown as soon as the new season begins this week. "McGarrett does start the season sort of questioning his mortality and the choices he's made," Lenkov stated. But since there is an ongoing killing spree within his jurisdiction, McGarrett might have to reconsider any plans of slowing down until he captures the killer.

Meanwhile, a synopsis for episode 3 titled "He Moho Hou (New Player)" had been spotted on The Futon Critic, saying that the new criminal profiler, Alicia Brown (Claire Forlani), will find a dead body in her bed, who seemed to be another victim of the chess-piece vigilante. This will force her to work with McGarrett and the team to hunt for the killer.

"Hawaii Five-0" season 7 is expected to premiere on Friday, Sept. 23.
