Now that One Direction is on their 18-month break, it seems like the perfect opportunity for the members to grow on their own and try new things. And it certainly looks that way for Harry Styles.

According to reports, Styles has registered four new songs--all co-penned and performed by the singer--with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers or ASCAP. The songs, namely "Already Home," "Coco," "5378 Miles" and "Endlessly," were also co-written by Snow Patrol's John McDaid and producer-songwriter Gary Go.

But that's not all. According to a Twitter post by @1DBreakUpdates, Styles has written two more songs with the titles "This is the Start" and "Wake Up the Sun." As with the other four songs, he is listed as the performer. It is unknown, however, if there's any truth to these rumors as the singer has not confirmed anything.

Since the songs were listed with Styles as the only performer, it's possible that the British singer really is going solo. Fans of the British-Irish boy band, who are collectively called "directioners," are undoubtedly feeling torn right now.

But directioners should not worry too much since Styles has not confirmed any intention of starting a solo career. It should also be noted that artists sometimes write songs for other artists. One Direction's Liam Payne has done just that for Irish boyband HomeTown.

Styles has also previously written a song for Ariana Grande titled "Just a Little Bit of Your Heart." So that could also be the case here.

While all this is a lot to take in, some fans are just curious about the meaning behind "5378 Miles." Telegraph reports that one fan has pointed out that it's the distance between Los Angeles and the U.K.

Even though Styles, Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson have said time and again that their break is merely temporary and that they'll eventually return as a group, that has not stopped some people from speculating that the enticing idea of a solo career will hinder One Direction from reuniting. Rumors of Styles considering an acting career are of no help as well.

Regardless, directioners still have faith in the boys' promise to come back as One Direction. And if they don't, they'd still be happy to support them as individual artists.
