Harry Potter fans will surely be thrilled about a new Harry Potter movie — if film director Chris Columbus will actually go for it.

Four years ago, bespectacled Harry's fun and adventures at Hogwarts ended. Fans had also said goodbye to movie sequels.

However, the famous film director wants to make a "Harry Potter 8" movie, according to reports, and the movie will be about what happened in the years that follow the great battle at the infamous Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Fans of Harry Potter books and films know very well that after Harry defeated Lord Voldemort in the epic battle, the story was fast forwarded to 18 to 19 years after.

The last scene of the movie showed the then-young wizards all grown up and sending their own brood to Hogwarts via Platform 9 ¾.

Columbus was the director of two Harry Potter movies, the "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" and "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets."

In an interview with the Entertainment Weekly, Columbus expressed that he wanted to go back directing an HP film and working with the three main characters — Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

Whether or not the director will present the idea to book author J.K. Rowling remains unknown, with the director stating that he should let Rowling do as she pleases but would love to know her thoughts about an HP 8 revolving around the story after the battle.

Meanwhile, Rowling is working on a stage play entitled "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child."

Although the story of the play will center on the years before Harry found his destiny, the author said that the production is not a prequel, as reported in EmpireOnline.

On the other hand, a Harry Potter spinoff movie is currently in production and will be entitled "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," which is the same title of a book that Harry had used as a reference during his time in Hogwarts.

The movie will be slated for a release next year, according to Cinema Blend. The story will be set 70 years earlier, which only means that the favorites Harry, Ron and Hermione are unlikely to be featured in the story.
