The release of Ill-Gotten Gains Part 1 should have left many happy considering that it means that there would be new features to look forward to for GTA V Online but such hasn't been the case thus far.
A lot of gamers took their frustrations to the GTAforums where most players have been encountering malfunctions and/or have ceased working. The latest DLC seems to have messed up with the in-game modes resulting in the mods to function improperly.
It should be noted that game developer Rockstar did say that they had nothing against single-player game mods though their constant updates have been somehow showing the exact opposite.
Rockstar further states that such occurrences were not intentional and the fact of the matter is that no one has been banned despite using the said mods.
They further elaborate that their main focus is to protect GTA V Online and try to make it as even as possible to prevent other players from gaining any unfair advantage or disrupt gameplay.
As far as mods are concerned, they did say that with the new patches could in a way cause problems and in this case cause technical difficulties. In a manner of speaking, it's indirectly saying that using mods will be hugely up to the gamer's end.
Such seems a bit contradicting with their standing policy of being lenient with mods though it may depend on how gamers perceive it.
The new patch is about 2GB large and has obviously affected a lot of mod scripts and thus resulting in malfunctions. Though not intentional, the updates are in a way sending a signal that Rockstar may not care about the mods, the updates will continue.
Though Rockstar stressed that it was unintentional, what is not seen are the possibilities that game mods could eventually act up with the released patches.
Is Rockstar tampering with game mods through these DLCs? If so and if it would make the gaming experience better then perhaps though they may not be aware its effects on the used game mods.
