It was definitely a shock seeing someone wearing the face of Juliette in the midseason finale of "Grimm" season 5. It was not Juliette, though, but someone with the abilities of a killer. Bitsie Tulloch returns to the series with a whole new and deadlier character -- Eve.
While the short-haired femme fatale may look like the veterinarian Nick once loved, she possesses no memories of her doppelganger; and the only thing she knows of is her mission, which is to eliminate Black Claw, the evil organization that has infiltrated Portland.
Programmed only for destruction and nothing more, the latest "Grimm" season 5 entrant is "laser-focused" on her task, as Tulloch described, and will not waste time on anything that won't help her accomplish the ambitious undertaking.
"Nothing can get her off her mission, which is basically to eradicate Black Claw," Tulloch told TV Line. "In her head, that's the only reason [she's] alive right now and not wreaking havoc and destruction on people [she loves]," she added.
No one was more surprised to see the face of Juliette again than Nick himself. When "Grimm" season 5 progresses, this will complicate the detective's disposition, which should make the latter half of the season more exciting.
"What better antagonist do you have than the woman who is the love of his life, whom he trusts implicitly, to be the one who is now out for blood and involved in the death of his mother?" Tulloch teased.
Apart from the emergence of Eve, "Grimm" season 5 has thrown in another mystery: Hadrian's Wall. This mysterious organization trained Juliette into a killing machine, but the show is yet to flesh out what they are really about.
Tulloch, however, believes that they have nothing but good intentions. Fans will know whether Tulloch's statement is accurate when "Grimm" season 5 returns to ABC on Jan. 29.
