'Grand Theft Auto 6' release date news: should a spin-off arrive first?

There is talk about a spin-off arriving prior to the release of "Grand Theft Auto VI." YouTube/Rockstar Games

"Grand Theft Auto VI" is considered as one of the most highly anticipated titles of recent memory. Unfortunately, though, Rockstar Games has yet to reveal an official release date — let alone confirm the overall existence of the title. Nevertheless, it is still interesting to know whether or not a spin-off should arrive prior to the sixth main installment.

According to GTA 5 Cheats, each of the games from the franchise was followed by some sort of additional game or games prior to its sequel's arrival. These range from extensions packs or downloadable contents (DLCs) all the way to spin-off titles. The latter, in particular, is what makes the aforementioned title an interesting game to look forward to.

It is worth noting that in the history of the "Grand Theft Auto" franchise, spin-offs do not necessarily play a significant role. Although players are fond of giving it a quick glimpse, it does not really provide a huge boost to the games in terms of popularity. Rather, it keeps the momentum going until the next title arrives.

The publication suggests that before "Grand Theft Auto VI" is to arrive, it is likely for Rockstar to introduce a spin-off first. This could be a game set in the very heart of Vice City or some other town already highlighted in the previous titles. However, if this spin-off does arrive, it does not necessarily confirm that the sixth main title will be released soon after.

In related "Grand Theft Auto VI" news, NSEAVoice reports that the next title is being pushed back due to the never-ending popularity of "Grand Theft Auto V." Interestingly, this could be a blessing in disguise for Rockstar because developers will have enough time to develop the next game. In any case, it is very likely for the sequel to arrive sometime in 2020. But like any other rumors about the game, this should still be taken with a grain of salt.
