'Gran Turismo Sport' release date: Upcoming game is 70 percent complete; More information revealed

Gran Turismo Sport Polyphony Digital, Sony

"Gran Turismo Sport" is one of the highly anticipated racing games for the year. Developer Polyphony Digital recently shared with fans that the game is about 70 percent complete and, by the end, will have hundreds of cars available to the players.

The update came directly from game director Kazunori Yamauchi, who was recently interviewed by Sina, a Chinese website. He revealed the game's progress, which has jumped by 20 percent since it was revealed in London last May, PlayStation Lifestyle reported.

Yamauchi's said, "We're hard at work every day, and the game keeps improving daily. The progress during the London reveal was at 50%, and now it's around 70%. There are still many aspects which can be further improved."

Yamauchi added, "In the end, there will be around 4 to 5 hundred cars. All cars have been re-modeled, and there won't be standard cars." This was according to a Yui-San, a user on GT Planet, which translated the news published in Chinese. It also stated that game will contain 140 cars when it gets released in November, but hundreds more will be added eventually via DLC. It is expected to have around 400 to 500 cars in total.

Additionally, the company is currently in negotiation to bring the Sanghai International Circuit to the game. They will also add sceneries that can be found in China, and the game director has asked the fans to send in their suggestions of which part of China that they want to see. Parts of Kuala Lumpur were seen during the demo of the game.

"Gran Turismo Sport" is considered the world's first racing game to offer global online competitions sanctioned by the FIA, or Federation International Automobile, which is the highest governing body of international motorsports. The game will include automobiles manufactured for multiple race classes, like GT3, Prototype, Rally, and more.

"Gran Turismo Sport" will hit the shelves on Nov. 15 exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
