Gothamites are all too excited for the return of "Gotham." The third season, titled "Mad City," will bring back James Gordon (Ben McKenzie), Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue), Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz), and several others in protecting the city from the monsters of Dr. Hugo Strange (BD Wong) starting Monday, Sept. 19.

It will be Detective Gordon's personal mission to find the mad scientist, as well as to round up several of his creations who have escaped Indian Hill, Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) included. Detective Bullock and Captain Barnes (Michael Chiklis) will continue to keep the city crime-free as well. The trusted butler Alfred Pennyworth (Sean Pertwee) and former Wayne Enterprises employee Lucius Fox (Chris Chalk) will continue on to assist Bruce to unravel the mystery behind the murder of his parents.

"As the city sinks deeper into chaos, Gotham will continue to follow the evolving stories of the city's most malevolent villains: The Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor); Edward Nygma/the future Riddler (Cory Michael Smith); Selina Kyle/the future Catwoman (Camren Bicondova); Barbara Kean (Erin Richards), Tabitha Galavan/Tigress (Jessica Lucas) and Butch Gilzean (Drew Powell)," the synopsis stated.

Several trailers were also uploaded by Gotham on its YouTube channel, Selina will do more than hang around on rooftops and was shown hanging with Mooney. This might be the season that she goes to the dark side of things. Barbara and Tabitha are still in speaking terms, while Penguin seems to have gained more control of the city than the previous season.

With regards to the upcoming villains, Comic Book Resources previously asked executive producer John Stephens about it, and he mentioned that The Mad Hatter, the Tweedle Brothers, Talon (Court of Owls), and even Solomon Grundy are likely to appear. More villains could also appear in the upcoming installment.

The show also got a new actress for its Poison Ivy/Ivy Pepper role. It was previously played by Claire Foley when the character looked younger. Now that she's grown up, the role will be filled by Maggie Geha. Pepper is now 19 years old, and she is now capable of using her charms to entice Bruce, Variety reported.

"Gotham" season 3 will premiere on Fox on Monday, Sept.r 19 at 8 p.m. EDT.
