"Gotham" season 2 carries the subtitle "Rise of the Villains," as if season 1 wasn't villainous enough.
Apparently, it wasn't enough since season 2 brings in more evil minds and Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) will be mostly alone in his quest to clean up the streets.
Apart from returning criminals like Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) and the budding psychopath Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith), season 2 has introduced a pair of evil minds — Theo and Tabitha Galavan, played by James Frain and Jessica Lucas, respectively.
The premiere episode of season 2, entitled "Damned If You Do," introduced the Galavan siblings. In the episode, it was shown how Theo picked Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) and Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monaghan) to be part of The Maniax, a team composed of criminally insane people whom fans will see most of the second season.
That's not just it — there will be more, especially with the introduction of the hitman Eduardo Flamingo, who will be portrayed by "Looking's" Raul Castillo, Variety reported.
Flamingo will arrive in season 2 on episode 9. How he will fit in the series remains to be seen, but he'll surely be one of the criminals referred to in the subtitle of the series' second season.
In related news, McKenzie and Morena Baccarin, who plays Dr. Leslie Thompkins in the series, are expecting their first child. How that goes for the series remains unknown.
However, a write-up from International Business Times mentioned four different ways on how the show could possibly handle Baccarin's baby bump.
The actress could stay for the series and will be cleverly dressed to hide her bump; she could be written out of the story, such as having Jim ask her to move out of the dangerous city; she could be killed off by villains — because after all, season 2 is about "Rise of the Villains"; or the show could go on telling a story about how Jim and Dr. Thompkins have a child together.
Meanwhile, fans will just have to catch the new episode of "Gotham," entitled "Knock, Knock," tonight, Sept. 28, at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.
