Sony Santa Monica's "God of War 4" is without a doubt one of the most highly anticipated titles of this year. Although no release date has been officially announced, most fans believe it is coming this year. Just recently, the game's director revealed some exciting details about the title.

On Twitter, "God of War 4" director Cory Barlog talked about the current status of the game's development. He said that everything is "going well" despite the whole experience being a "daily emotional meat grinder." Regardless, his perspective toward the forthcoming title is quite positive.

It is worth noting that Sony has already iterated in the past that they do not plan on revealing any core information about the game. Hence the community has been wondering what exactly this title will be. But with the release date seemingly near, it is safe to say that the company will soon drop the big reveal.

According to COG, "God of War 4" will be the kind of title that completes the entire visual system and combat mechanics of the franchise. It is basically a complete rework, as evidenced by Kratos being a father. Here, the main protagonist goes on a journey along with his son. So, it's no wonder why Barlog and his team are on a daily grind.

There are rumors and leaks about "God of War 4" being released sometime in September. Reports have it that a Portuguese game retailer listed the said month as the title's launch date. While this can be an exciting thing to look forward to, until Sony Santa Monica officially says so, the mystery continues.

"God of War 4" sees the return of the popular character Kratos, who is now responsible for another being's life. The game will be released as a PlayStation 4 exclusive. Other than that, everything about it remains hidden.
