'Ghost in the Shell' release date, news: New teaser video shows Scarlet Johansson with cloaking device

A promotional still from the upcoming "Ghost in the Shell" movie Paramount Pictures

"Ghost in the Shell" is one of the most anticipated movies coming next year, and fans have been very eager to learn more about it. Fortunately, Paramount Pictures released another teaser trailer that shows Scarlet Johansson turning off her cloaking device. The live-action film adaptation of the anime/manga franchise will premiere on March 31, 2017.

The latest teaser trailer does not show a lot. Johansson's character, The Major, is seen wearing her thermoptic suit, that renders her invisible, after knocking out a person. Then there is nothing more, except for a date, Nov. 13, and the word Tokyo. A "Ghost in the Shell" event will happen in Tokyo on the aforementioned date, where a full trailer is expected to be released.

Johansson will play as The Major, a cyborg policewoman, who also happens to be the leader of Section 9. The group is responsible for stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremist, but the team will now face a new enemy that will do everything to sabotage cyborg technology.

The "Ghost in the Shell" cast also includes Beat Takeshi Kitano as Daisuke Aramaki, Juliette Binoche as Dr. Ouelet, Michael Pitt as Kuze, Pilou Asbæk as Batou, and Kaori Momoi. The members of Section 9 will be played by actors Ng Chin Han, Danusia Samal, Lasarus Ratuere, Yutaka Izumihara, and Tawanda Manyimo.

Meanwhile, fans of Johansson that are residing in New Zealand, where the movie was filming for several months, were wondering if the actress has been even in the country because she was rarely seen at all. As it turned out, she was indeed in Wellington since January. Her husband, Romain Dauriac, and her daughter, Rose, accompanied her. Then they moved to China in around June, where the film continued its production, NZ Herald reported.

The actress told the reporters that she truly had a wonderful experience in Wellington. She said, "It's been fine. I work a lot so ... it's a quiet place, people are nice and I'm able to focus on work here a lot it's not too distracting, I think they've probably brought us here so we all only focus on work."

"Ghost in the Shell" will hit the big screen on March 31, 2017.
