'Gears of War 4' release date: Game all set for October release; Microsoft announces Gears eSports Pro Circuit for upcoming game

"Gears of War 4" is locked and loaded and ready to be released by Oct. 11. Xbox and The Coalition, the game publisher and developer, have announced the Gears eSports Pro Circuit for "Gears of War 4." Players can now compete in worldwide marquee events and win some of the starting US$1 million price pool.

Fans will soon have the chance to be with the Outsiders and play as the son of Marcus Fenix and Anya Stroud, J.D. Fenix. Players will now have to defend their territory from the reformed Coalition of Ordered Governments, or COG, as well as from new threats that developed for the past 25 years, reported GameSpot.

Those who are competitive enough, professionals and amateurs alike, can join the Gears Pro Circuit organized by Major League Gaming (MLG) as well as Gfinity ladder matches and daily and weekly tournaments. Players will then earn "Gears Pro Points," which can earn them a spot in the international circuit open.

Events will take place on major continents from October 2016 until July 2017. These are LAN (local area network) events that will happen every one to two months starting from the game's launch date. Top teams winning from Europe, Latin America, Oceania and North America will then be flown to different venues to compete with each other. Prize pool for this events will range from US$75,000 to as much as US$250,000. Microsoft says there will also be an additional $100,000 event at a surprise location as well as a launch event in October. A total of eight LAN events will happen over the course of 10 months.

"Xbox and The Coalition are proud to announce the Gears eSports Pro Circuit for Gears of War 4. Gears of War players can compete in marquee live open events around the world operated by world-class tournament organizers Major League Gaming (MLG) and Gfinity for a starting $1,000,000 in cash prizes, the announcement said.

"Gears of War 4" will hit the shelves on Oct. 11 for the Xbox One and Windows PC. The standard edition is at US$59.99 and the unlimited edition is for US$99.
