Winter is coming in the penultimate season of HBO's "Game of Thrones," which is scheduled to premiere on July 17. As season 7 approaches, the network has revealed details concerning the show's final seasons as well as plans to find a spinoff series.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, HBO's programming president Casey Bloys revealed that showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss may need more time than usual to create the final season of "Game of Thrones." With that said, it's possible that "Game of Thrones" season 8 may come out as late as 2019.

"They have to write the episodes and figure out the production schedule," Bloys said, adding, "We'll have a better sense of that once they get further into the writing."

The long wait, however, may not necessarily be a bad thing for fans as HBO aims to produce a cinematic experience for "Game of Thrones" season 8.

"What they're doing is monumental. When you see these battles in season 7, and what I imagine season 8 will be, it's a big, big show," Bloys teased about the Emmy-winning show's final two seasons.

Bloys also confirmed that writers are already working on four individual spinoff projects to follow "Game of Thrones" once it wraps up. Bloys added that "A Song of Ice and Fire" author George R.R. Martin is involved in these projects at varied extents.

Meanwhile, "Game of Thrones" season 7 spoilers are coming out as the show's stars teased about their characters' fates. Actress Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark on the show, revealed that her character might take dark turn in "Game of Thrones" season 7.

Speaking with Yahoo Lifestyle Singapore, Turner teased Sansa will evolve into a powerful leader gunning for revenge. She will stop at nothing to protect her family, even if it means becoming a "ruthless killer, leader, sadistic woman or evil lady," Turner hinted.

"Game of Thrones" season 7 will air on HBO on July 17.
