'Frozen 2' plot, latest update: Director gives hint on what to expect from 'Frozen' sequel

Elsa from "Frozen" Disney

It's still a long way to go for "Frozen 2," but it's apparent that fans are excited about a sequel to the hit animated film of 2013.

Not a lot of details are known about the movie, but a recent interview with film director Chris Buck provided hints on what fans should expect from the sequel.

Buck gave away something about the movie plot and shared what major characters Anna and Elsa will go through in the new film.

In an interview with MTV News, Buck said that he and Jennifer Lee already have "very strong" concept for the upcoming animated flick and he also expressed how excited he is about working on the movie.

Buck went on to say that "Frozen" features two powerful female characters and the sequel will surely feature more of them.

More importantly, the director said that the new film will feature current issues that boys, girls, men, and women are currently facing.

Both Buck and Lee are planning to use the movie to deliver an important message. Buck said that "Frozen" had been received very well that kids would watch them on replay; hence, incorporating the right message into the movie is priority.

Moreover, Buck stated that he and Lee are both happy to be working on "Frozen" characters as he finds part of his personality embedded into each of the film's characters.

Speculations about "Frozen 2" continue on and most of them suggest that the animated film will be released by 2018.

As for the plot, it has been rumored that writers will be featuring Elsa as a villain in the upcoming sequel. As reported in MoviePilot, writers may consider making Elsa the bad guy, but doing that could be difficult since the ice queen just came back to be with her sister.

But being a queen and all the responsibilities that come with the role could put a strain on her fresh start. With Anna getting closer to Kristoff, Elsa could be pushed back to isolation.

Nothing's certain about the movie at this point and fans will just have to wait for future updates.
