"Five Nights at Freddy's" (FNAF) gets a movie adaptation and recent updates reveal that itS production is underway, with Gil Kenan ("Poltergeist") taking the director's seat.

Official plot for the movie based on Scott Cawthon's horror survival game remains unknown, but the director has been active in releasing developments of the story.

According to Venture Capital Post, Kenan had promised that the ongoing project will bring utter horror to viewers.

Meanwhile, Kotaku also shared juicy details about the upcoming movie. The news outlet reported that animatronics will be used in the movie and these will be made at the Henson Creature Shop, as suggested in Kenan's Instagram post. This roughly translates to a whole range of practical effects that should be expected from the movie.

Kenan was also generous enough to answer questions thrown at him on Twitter. For instance, when asked why animatronics were preferred over computer-generated imagery (CGI), Kenan responded that animatronics deliver "unnerving" effects. "...they're REAL," the director explained.

In the FNAF games, there exist four main animatronics — Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy. Kenan did not mention which of these characters will make an appearance on the film but will use animatronics to give the film a more realistic feel.

Since FNAF game franchise has been received very well, some people also expressed their worries that the director might not do an outstanding job in making a film adaptation.

But it's wonderful news that Kenan himself admitted that he is indeed a fan of the game franchise, and with this revelation, it's easy to assume that he won't let fans and even Cawthon down.

Other details picked up from Kenan's tweets include the details on the locations of the story. The director revealed that although the story is still being written, it will definitely have multiple locations.

There should be more updates about the movie and how the animatronics will look like in the coming months.
