'Final Fantasy VII Remake' news: Developer still preparing title

"Final Fantasy VII" Square-Enix

"Final Fantasy" fans got all hyped up when Square Enix, the game developer, said that they will be doing a remake of "Final Fantasy VII." Last January, it was learned that the development team is still preparing for the game.

The game's producer, Yoshinori Kitase of Square Enix, shared some information to "Final Fantasy" fans about their current remake project through the Japanese magazine Famitsu.

"I believe that this year will still be a year of preparations for Final Fantasy VII Remake," Kitase said, as quoted by Siliconera. "I'd like to create a new kind of value for the hardware that is the PlayStation 4 for our next announcement."

Previously, Kitase also said in a Square Enix blog post that the "Final Fantasy VII Remake" will not be arriving in one single game but, rather, in small chunks. He believes that with this option, the development team can expand and branch out from the original story, which will then give a better gaming experience for old and new fans. This means that the upcoming remake will not just be a simple digital upgrade.

Game Spot reported that the "Final Fantasy VII" Remake will be incorporating an open-world type of gaming. It will also be featuring full voice acting. The report added that things may start to heat up for the remake once "World of Final Fantasy" has been released, which is said to be this year.

"Final Fantasy VII" was released back in 1997 for the first PlayStation and Windows PC. "Final Fantasy VII Remake" will be retelling the story of Cloud Strife, but with a better game engine and better hardware, the PlayStation 4. The game is being created from the ground up, which is the reason for the excitement of "Final Fantasy" aficionados.

Neither Square Enix nor anybody from the production team has given any other information regarding the upcoming game. Sadly, fans need a little more patience until more solid details are revealed.
