'Final Fantasy 7 Remake' release date, news: PS4 Pro behind delay to title?

Rumors suggest that "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" will not push through with its planned release date. Although the game developer, Square Enix, has remained tight-lipped with its project, it is speculated that the delay was caused by the PlayStation 4 Pro.

Previously, there was a discussion among the fans in Reddit that the game has been delayed due to the development of the PlayStation 4 Pro. According to sources familiar with the matter, the studio was actually right on schedule until Sony announced a directive about games arriving later than Oct. 30 must be PS4 Pro-friendly. Because of this, a major overhaul was performed in the game at the last minute, which constitutes the delay. The studio was targeting a 2016 release date, but it seems it will not be happening anymore. Fans are now expecting that the game will arrive by 2017.

Game fans are also looking forward to the Monaco Anime Game International Conferences (MAGIC) event that will take place on Feb. 18 next year. The event will feature Tetsuya Nomura, the game director, and creator of "Final Fantasy 7 Remake," and he is expected to share development news about the upcoming game. Nomura is also in-charge of "Kingdom Hearts3," and fans will definitely hear some news as well with the game, according to Attack of the Fanboy.

The report also added that the director himself stated that there will be no additional news related to the previously mentioned games until "Kingdom Hearts 2.8" gets released in January. Also, another "Final Fantasy" game is under development aside from the remake.

Meanwhile, "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" is expected to feature a new battle system, which gamers are suspected to contribute to the delay happening to the game. Currently, since "Final Fantasy IV," Square Enix has been happily using the active time battle (ATB) system. The studio has now decided to change it to bring in additional excitement to the game series.

"Final Fantasy 7 Remake" is expected to be released in 2017, but "Final Fantasy XV" will be ready on Nov. 29 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
