Early this October, "The Walking Dead" spin-off, "Fear the Walking Dead" wrapped its first season and anyone who wanted more of another zombies-filled series will be glad to know that the spin-off got renewed for another season.
AMC reportedly revealed at the Television Critics Association panel in July that the spin-off will be renewed for season 2, carrying 15 episodes as opposed to only six episodes back in season 1.
Back in the finale of the first season, Victor Strand (Colman Domingo) was seen moving three families into his yacht to stay away from the mainland.
This is an effort to save the people from becoming a potential zombie meal stuck in a zombies-filled nation.
Entertainment Weekly spoke to showrunner Dave Erickson and he shared that season 2 will show how the heroes will meet some of the offshore refugees aboard Strand's yacht.
This then led to questions as to what can be expected from the second season, considering zombies lack the ability to swim, and living off the mainland and on the waters are great tactics to be protected from the flesh-eating corpses.
The outlet also spoke to series co-creator Robert Kirkman, who then revealed that zombie fans shouldn't worry about not seeing zombies because season 2 will be anything but "zombie-free."
"There's definitely going to be a lot of intense action and a lot of awesome boat stuff. Despite the fact that zombies can't walk on water and can't swim, there will be plenty of zombies to be had," Kirkman explained, according to Entertainment Weekly's report.
Kirkman assured that "Fear the Walking Dead" will always be a "journey show" just like how "The Walking Dead" began.
What this could mean is that even though the "Fear" heroes might assume they're safe offshore, they will still encounter several challenges while out on the water; that's something that people should look forward to when the show returns.
Fans of the "The Walking Dead" have also wondered why the heroes didn't just escape to the waters and be safe from the zombies. Kirkman then revealed that "Fear" season 2 will provide the answers as to why.
"When you see 'Fear the Walking Dead' you'll probably stop asking why they didn't just go to the water. You'll start asking, why won't they leave the water?"
Kirkman added that there's just plenty of cool things to be discovered when the show returns in 2016, with an exact date still waiting to be announced.
