The next "Fast & Furious" film is in the works as revealed by Vin Diesel's recent appearance at the CinemaCon. This news is expected especially with the success of the "Furious 7." Many rumors are circulating as how this sequel will go but one thing is for sure, the movie will be one explosive action flick when it opens in 2017.

"Furious 7" is seen as the intro for a new trilogy of "Fast" films. Kurt Russell's Mr. Nobody role is a hint of what is to come. This is one plot idea that is gaining a lot of traction and pushing for Russell's return to the new installment of the franchise.

Diesel was true to his words when he said that "Furious 7" would see a return to L.A.'s streets. Now, the next film is expected to shoot in New York after Diesel hinted that Toretto's crew will be on a mission with Mr. Nobody's covert organization in the Big Apple. The prospect of fast cars zooming in and around Manhattan would make an exciting "Furious" movie, no doubt.

Even with James Wan's success in directing "Furious 7," he is not expected to be at the helm for "Fast 8," with a Deadline story saying that Jeremy Lin is returning to do a series of "Fast" films including the next sequel due for 2017.

In a CinemaBlend write-up, Diesel recounted how he and the late actor Paul Walker discussed about the next chapter of the "Fast and Furious" movies. He mused that it was destiny that kept the series of films on track. So Diesel suggested that they call it "F8" or "Fate." Fate or not, this upcoming "Fast & Furious" film will surely add to the success of the 14-year-old franchise.
