FX has finally revealed their plans for the next installment of "Fargo," which involve casting critically acclaimed star Ewan McGregor in its lead role in season 3.

Deadline revealed that the British actor was tapped to portray two main characters in the highly anticipated "Fargo" season 3.

One of his characters will be named Emmit Stussy, a charming real estate mogul who is also known as the Parking Lot King of Minnesota. He will also take on the role of Emmit's less attractive younger brother Ray, a "balding and pot-bellied" parole officer who blames his misfortunes on his older brother.

The 45-year-old British actor is best known for his role as the young Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi in the "Star Wars" prequel trilogy, the struggling writer Christian in the 2001 film "Moulin Rouge," and as Dr. Alfred Jones in the 2011-released "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen."

McGreggor is the first actor who has been confirmed in the upcoming season of the multi-awarded black comedy-crime drama for the upcoming season. Its past lead stars include Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman, and Colin Hanks in season 1, and Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons, Ted Danson and Patrick Wilson in season 2.

The first season was nominated for 18 Primetime Emmy Awards in 2014, where it won the Outstanding Miniseries and the Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie, or Dramatic Special awards. Season 2, meanwhile, is also nominated for several awards, including the Best Miniseries or Television Film, Best Actor – Miniseries or Television Film for Patrick Wilson, and Best Actress – Miniseries or Television Film for Kristen Dunst in the 73rd Golden Globe Awards this year.

At the moment, McGregor is the only actor confirmed to be a part of the upcoming season of "Fargo." But the plot is said to be set in 2010, and is expected to premiere in the early quarter of 2017.
