'Fallout 4' DLC news: 'Automatron' expansion pack ready to bring robot companions on March 22

The first expansion for "Fallout 4" titled "Automatron" will finally be arriving on Tuesday, March 22. This was announced by game developer Bethesda Softworks just a few days ago, along with a trailer video.

The official description of the DLC is, "In Automatron, the mysterious Mechanist has unleashed a horde of evil robots into the Commonwealth, including the devious Robobrain. Hunt them down and harvest their parts to build and mod your own custom robot companions. Choose from hundreds of mods; mixing limbs, armor, abilities, and weapons such as the all-new lightning chain gun. Even customize their paint schemes and choose their voices! (For characters level 15 or higher.)"

The video shows that a survivor is using a computer terminal of a robot assembly machine, and he is mixing and matching parts for his robot companion. After completion, the survivor is seen walking on the wasteland while his newly created robot has its own set of wheels.

The succeeding scenes show several showdowns between robots, fighting it out on the wasteland, equipped with missiles, machine guns and flame throwers. They come in different shapes and sizes, too. One robot even looks like a modified Mr. Handy. There are more than 20 different robots shown in the trailer.

The "Automatron" DLC can be purchased for $10 or gamers can get a season pass for $50, which will include all DLC packs scheduled for the game. The ones that Bethesda has announced are "Wasteland Workshop," to be released sometime in April, which will let players build settlements plus the ability for players to put captured humans and creatures in a cage. "Far Harbor," the third DLC packs, will be arriving in May and players will be searching for a young woman in a colony of synths.

"Fallout 4" was originally released on Nov. 10 and has won numerous awards. It also bagged the Game of the Year award during the D.I.C.E. awards held in February. It is available for the Windows PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
