Elder Scrolls Online is implementing a catchy deal aimed at former beta testers this weekend. The game is free for them to play.
For the limited time, such was a strategy developed by Zenimax with the hope that former beta testers would be enticed to get their very own copy and of course add to the players who are already playing it.
Elder Scrolls Online has garnered a lot of improvements since its beta release last year and hopefully this Welcome Back Weekend offer may encourage players to play the game once more.
Though the strategy may seem tricky, most players who may have opted not to buy the game were avoiding the monthly subscription plan required to play the game.
Though there is no assurance that all that would be covered, the good news is that the monthly subscription has been dropped in what is called a Guild-Wars style approach. This means that players need to only pay a one-time fee and they can start playing ESO.
Despite this restructured offer, the difference is that hardcore players can still look forward to a premium subscription plan, presumably more features which may not be available with the cheaper one.
Elder Scrolls Online has had its issues, having been delayed twice. It has also been criticized for lack of content which may be the result of its far-from-impressive audience size.
Players who may be interested in trying out the game again for free can wait for it at around 10:00 a.m. EDT on April 16. This will be free until April 19. Come April 20, (10:00 a.m. EDT), players will need to get a copy to continue playing.
Versions for other game consoles such as the PS4 and Xbox One are expected to roll out on June 9, 2015.
A digital copy version for the PS4 or Xbox One is now available at a discounted price of $20.00. The offer is good for 30 days so if you plan to get one, this is perhaps the best time to do so.
For players who want to shift to the PS4 or Xbox but are afraid of losing their game progress, your existing PC or Mac character can transferred to the game console of your choice. Again, this special feature will be valid only for 30 days.
