'Elder Scrolls 6' release date rumors: 'Skyrim' sequel won't be here much longer than expected

Developer Bethesda Softworks will be very busy prior to making the "Elder Scrolls 6." Game director Todd Howard and his team will work on two more "big games" that are comparable to "Elder Scrolls" in terms of scale.

"The studio has two major projects, two major games that they are planning on doing before they get to an Elder Scrolls 6," Bethesda vice president for public relations and marketing Pete Hines said.

A release timing for these two titles wasn't revealed, but seeing that the games are enormous and something Hines said Howard isn't easily going to "spit out," they will definitely take up a lot of time.

Add to that the fact that "Elder Scrolls 6" itself is touted to be another massive installment and fans will be in for the most challenging test of patience they have never experienced in the franchise.

Howard isn't shy in warning fans that "Elder Scrolls 6" will take a while before it sees the light of day. He revealed during YouTube Live at E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) that the "Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim" sequel is "a very long way off."

The "Fallout 4" director also said that they already have visions for "Elder Scrolls 6" and these visions appear to be too ambitious and grand to execute now.

He remarked that if he explained "Elder Scrolls 6" right now, fans will find themselves saying "That sounds like you don't even have the technology—how long is that going to take?" Howard emphasized it will take "a lot of time."

"We have a pretty good idea of what it would be, and it's just going to take technology and time that, really, we don't have necessarily right now," he went on to say.

Thankfully, there will be two upcoming Bethesda games and the "Skyrim" remaster to get fans by what sounds like an extremely long wait for the "Elder Scrolls 6."
