Duggars show how family can have lots of fun by doing the simplest things together

The Duggar family from the now cancelled TLC show "19 Kids and Counting" loves doing things together, and finds joy in doing the simplest things—whether it be cooking a meal together, going shopping, playing, or even indulging in a childhood pastime such as having a colouring contest.

"There are so many ways to have fun as a family. This weekend we had a spontaneous all ages colouring contest. You have to admit, no matter how old you are colouring can be fun!" Jim Bob and Michelle shared on their Facebook page.

To properly bond with their children, the Christian parents make sure that they will not be bothered by work or other concerns. "The most important thing is turning off every distraction, laying down our devices and spending wonderful face time with our children! What are some fun spontaneous things your family does together?" they even asked their fans.

It is no easy feat raising 19 children, but for Jim Bob and Michelle, each child is a blessing from God and it's always a fun time no matter what they do or where they go. "It is fun spending time with 19 of your best friends. It is a blast everywhere we go. There is never a dull moment!" they wrote in their blog.

However, they noted that the hardest thing about raising any number of children is keeping up with their hearts and passions. "With as many as we have that is a full-time job. We try to have regular talks with each one individually on a weekly basis," they shared. "It is important to learn how to ask the right questions and not have a condemning spirit. They need to know they have a safe place to share their hopes and dreams, challenges and mistakes. This creates a very close relationship."
