'Downton Abbey' season 6 spoilers: Lady Mary in 'business mode' in new episodes

Downton Abbey PBS

"Downton Abbey" season 6 is the final season for the BBC drama. Filming is over and done, and the cast and crew members have said their heartwarming goodbyes. However, for fans, it is just the beginning of the end.

Just recently, a set of promotional images for the season were released. Lady Edith Crawley, Mrs. Hughes, Robert and John Bates will be back together with the rest of the characters for another seaa of tension and drama.

Meanwhile, TV Line also shared some scoops about what "Downton Abbey" season 6 has in store for Lady Mary. Michelle Dockery said that her character will be in "business mode," which means that her complicated love life won't be much of a focus, at least not initially.

"She's taken on the role of the estate agent because Branson's left, so she's a working girl. She's not really actively looking for anyone," the actress said.

However, with Matthew Goode's character Henry Talbot back in the scene, her "working girl" status is not likely to last long.

"He comes back into her life [and] it's complicated as it always is," Dockery explained. "It's never plain sailing in her love life."

As for other characters, Carson and Mrs. Hughes consider marrying each other, while Anna and Bates continue to struggle with the former still behind bars. In addition, Daisy still attempts to get out of Downton, Violet Crawley and Isobel engage in a dispute, and Robert starts to feel a bit outdated.

"Downton Abbey" season 6 premieres on Jan. 3. There is also talk regarding a movie inspired by the series.
