'Doctor Who' season 9 spoilers, cast news: Missy's surprising return, other character comebacks

Season 9 of "Doctor Who" has yet to reveal a release date but this early, the series is bringing in a cast of familiar faces.

Leading the pack is Missy who is played by Michelle Gomez. Missy made an abrupt exit last season. Regardless, Missy will be part of the two-part season titled "The Magician's Apprentice" according to rumors.

But it seems that it won't just be Missy who will be returning.

Another rumored star who will be coming back is said to be Jemma Redgrave. Redgrave plays the part of Kate Lethbridge-Stewart.

Aside from the two, it looks like Dr. Who will have quite a whole lot more of returning stars as well. The list includes Clare Higgins, Jaye Griffiths, and Kelly Hunter, all of whom will be appearing in the first two-part episode. However, it did not say what kind of role these returning faces would be taking on but expect them to be revealed via the rumor mill soon.

Going back to Missy, the Gatekeeper of the Netersphere was last seen in last season's two-episode finale.

It will be recalled that Missy was revealed as the Master who would later on be vaporized by Cyberman which many thought was her last stand. And apparently that is not the case with her return in Season 9.

With no official release date for now, more spoilers and updates on "Doctor Who" season 9 should be popping up in the coming days or months.
