The ongoing trend of adapting novels into films has proven to be quite effective in the entertainment industry today, and "The Divergent Series" is no exception.
The immensely popular young adult series inspired the creation of four films, and with the worldwide success and fan following that it has garnered, it is no surprise that any news concerning the films have been closely observed.
It was previously confirmed that the third novel in the series would be split into two films, following the footsteps of young adult classics like "Harry Potter," "The Twilight Saga" and "The Hunger Games."
But instead of going with "The Divergent Series: Allegiant - Part 1" and "The Divergent Series: Allegiant - Part 2" as titles, MTV news reported that the third and fourth installations of the franchise are getting different names. Part 1 will be called "The Divergent Series: Allegiant" and part 2 will be called "The Divergent Series: Ascendant."
Rumor has it that "Allegiant" will feature Four (Theo James) as a child and "Ascendant" will see Natalie Prior (Ashley Judd), Tris' mother, as a young girl.
With the trailer for "Allegiant" already released, reports have it that some fans were not pleased with what they saw. Differences from the novel were apparently cited as the reason for their dissatisfaction.
The film is also reportedly going to show a lot of onscreen romance between Four and Tris (Shailene Woodley), much to the delight of fans of the pair. Their chemistry is, in fact, so good that it has often led fans to wish that they start going out in real life.
But fans who have read the books know what is in store for Tris, as she will ultimately sacrifice herself in the end. This has disheartened many, with some even going as far as to start an online petition to let Tris live in the last dystopian film.
Only time will tell if such a movement will prove to be successful.
"The Divergent Series: Allegiant" will premiere March 18, 2016 and "The Divergent Series: Ascendant" is slated to be released on March 24, 2017.
