'Diablo 3' DLC news, release date: players to get 'Rise of the Necromancer' pack next year

Game developer Blizzard Entertainment has announced that "Diablo 3" will have a new DLC next year, and it will be called "Rise of the Necromancer." During the recently concluded Blizzcon 2016, the studio also promised more additional content coming to the game.

The "Rise of the Necromancer" pack will bring forth an old playable character class to the game which will be available in both male and female forms. The decision was actually a challenge for the studio since "Diablo 3" already has the Witch Doctor, a class that cast spells and summons monsters. However, the Necromancer will have its powers from death and will be able to command those they have risen, according to the game's official website

The announcement added: "Necromancers can expect darker, more controlled gameplay centered around the raw materials of life: blood and bone. Grounded in a philosophical, pragmatic approach to life and death, they're more like a calculated conductor of the darkest arts. Deadly serious in their practice, they are the experts of curses and reanimation—and their pets obey their every command."

The new character class will also be based on the classic "Diablo II" class and several of its skills. Currently, some of the skills already developed for the new character are Corpse Explosion, Bone Spear, Siphon Blood, Blood Rush, and Summon Skeletons.

Additionally, "Diablo 3" will also receive updates on the Armory, where players will be able to store up to five character load-outs, a new tab for crafting materials so that these things will not consume a huge amount of space in the inventory, and new zones. Finally, Seasons will soon be available for PlayStation and Xbox consoles. The feature has been enabled for a time already on the PC version, and the company will now let console players participate in the contest.

The update will be offered free, while the price for the upcoming DLC will be announced at a later date.

The "Rise of the Necromancer" DLC pack for "Diablo 3" is scheduled for release sometime in 2017.
