'Destiny: Rise of Iron' DLC release date: Pre-order content comes with free Iron Gjallarwing Sparrow

After Bungie announced that the next "Destiny" downloadable content known as the "Rise of Iron" will be released on Sept. 20, the game studio revealed that a treat will be given to those who pre-ordered the upcoming DLC.

Xbox Achievements reported that players who opted to pre-order "Destiny: Rise of Iron" DLC will get a free in-game Iron Gjallarwing Sparrow which was patterned after the appearance of the exotic rocket launcher called the Gjallarhorn. But those who will choose to purchase the DLC upon release can also get their hands on a Gjallarwing, but they will have to exchange a Silver in order to acquire it from the Eververse store.

Executive producer Scott Taylor talked about the free pre-order treat in an interview with PlayStation Lifestyle. According to Taylor, "if you pre-order you get the Iron Gjallahorn which is amazing, and everyone can get a version of Gjallahorn which is really exciting for players." He also said that players will definitely have fun with the weapon. "We have some great quests to get to this weapon, and that's really exciting. We're excited to have that connection between players and their weapon."

The game studio also dropped more information about the upcoming "Destiny: Rise of Iron" DLC during a live-streamed event.

According to Bungie CEO Pete Parsons, "Rise of Iron is an exciting addition to the Destiny universe. We are continually blown away and inspired by the growing Destiny community's energy and enthusiasm."

Bungie also dropped via another livestreaming a sneak peek at the Warlock set that will come with the Rise of Iron DLC. They also unveiled via the game's official Twitter account last week the first look of the new Hunter gear that will be dropped for Trials of Osiris champions.

The "Destiny: Rise of Iron" DLC will be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for $30.
