While fans appear to be all up on the upcoming "Destiny" downloadable content (DLC), there's still discussion regarding "Destiny 2" and when it will come out.

In fact, there's already interest on the DLC roadmap for "Destiny," which something that Bungie developers were surprised about.

Speaking to Kotaku, "Rise of Iron" DLC director Chris Barrett said that they simply aim to "keep more regular content for players."

"So we want to get to a place where we can ship really great expansions like 'Rise of Iron' and cool events like Festival of the Lost, and that's sort of the full library of stuff that we want to deliver," Barrett said.

Fans can expect big changes in "Destiny 2" as well. Since "Rise of Iron" will be released for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 only, Bungie made apt changes on the game overall.

The move to the current-generation consoles should open opportunities for Bungie to push the boundaries of the shooter, making for a feature-rich sequel.

The Live Events as well as activities such as the Iron Banner will no longer be available to the PS3 and the Xbox 360. It remains what these big changes mean for "Destiny 2" and what's going to be in it.

Bungie does not talk about "Destiny 2" a lot, especially with the release of the "Rise of Iron" DLC looming. However, despite the lack of details, the company is hard at work in putting together the sequel.

"We'll be plotting more specific waypoints as time goes on," Bungie design lead Lars Bakken said in a blog post, adding that "the adventures, dangerous enemies, and glittering treasures" coming to "Destiny 2" and beyond are being plotted out.

"Destiny 2" is expected to be released sometime next year. The "Destiny: Rise of Iron" DLC will be released on Sept. 20.
