Bungie is expected to make "Destiny 2" from a clean slate, but it is expected that elements from the original game will still be included eventually.

According to insider shinobi1602, while the developer will drop much of the content from the first "Destiny" game, it will most likely be temporary.

"They might reintroduce areas in a more 'D2' fleshed out way. So we might lose temporary access to these places, then regain it or have to fight back for control of it at a later point in the plot," the insider wrote on NeoGAF.

"This means we'll get to see older areas or activities through the perspective of the newer content," shinobi1602 went on to say.

He said that "Destiny 2" might see older areas from its predecessor expanded and packed with additional activities, which he claims is one of Bungie's design goals for the sequel.

Shinobi1602 added that "Destiny 2" will also feature big changes on the narrative side of things — in the areas of plot direction, pacing, and structure.

"Major focus is going to be on the Cabal [and] Saturn. Saturn is a playspace is set to be bigger than all of the playspaces currently implemented in the game combined," the insider wrote.

"Destiny 2" is expected to be released on the PC, which will allow Bungie to reach a new legion of players as they did not release the first game on the said platform.

Another tipster by the name benny_a claims that the sequel is being developed by Vicarious Vision and High Moon. The tipster also confirmed that raid matchmaking will finally be included in "Destiny 2."

The characters and the locations should be new to fans. "The Taken King" creative director Luke Smith will be leading the charge in the development.

As for the release date, Bungie has set a 2017 launch date for "Destiny 2," and the company is actively working on the highly-anticipated sequel.
