'Destiny 2' release date: Developer to focus on sequel after 'Rise of Iron' DLC has been released?

Destiny: Rise of Iron DLC Bungie

Fans are speculating that game developer Bungie can now focus its energy on "Destiny 2" since the "Rise of Iron" DLC for its current game has been announced. Though the expansion pack is not yet available, Guardians are looking forward to getting their hands on an exotic rocket launcher while waiting for the game's sequel.

The upcoming third expansion pack will see the return of the Iron Gjallarhorn, which can be obtained by completing a mission or quest. This will come in a gold and white combination. For those who want a different-looking Gjallarhorn, a black-and-white color combination is available but only be for those who pre-order the downloadable content.

"Destiny: Rise of Iron" DLC will also feature a new story campaign, quests,  armor, gear and weapons.  Players will also experience a new Raid event, an increase in Maximum Light, new Strike, Plaguelands zone, social space, new Crucible mode, maps, new enemy faction and bosses.

The developer said, "Destiny: Rise of Iron is the next highly anticipated expansion to the Destiny universe. It features an all new cinematic story campaign set within The Plaguelands, a brand new location on Earth."

It added, "Under the command of Lord Saladin you will face a new faction of Fallen Devils, the Splicers, while unravelling the mystery of the Iron Lords. Rise of Iron features new weapons, armor, and gear, as well as a new cooperative three-player Strike, a new mode and maps for the Crucible competitive multiplayer, and an all new six-player cooperative Raid."

The Plaguelands is the area where the fallen enemies are regrouping, near the Cosmodrome, which has been isolated for a very long time. Additionally, new areas such as Felwinter Peak and The Wall will also be accessible to players.

Fans are still waiting for any news with regards to "Destiny 2" since no update was given during the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016. For the meantime, Guardians can look forward to the release of "Destiny: Rise of Iron." The DLC will be available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One starting Sept. 20 for US$30.
