'Dark Souls 3' DLC release date: First post-launch pack to launch this fall

"Dark Souls 3" is getting its first DLC this fall. Bandai Namco

Bandai Namco has confirmed that the first DLC for "Dark Souls 3" will be released this fall. The game publisher added that a second DLC pack will be launched at a later date. Both will likely be packaged in the game's season pass.

Bandai Namco did not disclose any information on what content to expect in the expansion packs. The only takeaway from this announcement is that the DLC will be out by September at the earliest.

As the month inches closer, "Dark Souls 3" players can expect more specific details about the expansion pack to come out. For now, a previous leak that provides a clue on what's in store will have to do. Back in February, a listing of the game's $25 season pass was leaked.

"Challenge yourself with new maps, bosses, enemies, and additional weapon and armor sets. Prepare yourself once more and embrace the darkness," the description of the leaked "Dark Souls 3" season pass listing read.

While waiting for the DLC to emerge, gamers can enjoy "Dark Souls 3" in all its glory and explore each and every corner of the game first. After all, the action role-playing video game was only released in North America last April 12. It only took mere days for the copies on Amazon to run out.

Days after its launch, many gamers are already hailing "Dark Souls 3" their favorite. Gamers are about to love it even more with the Day One and Collector's Editions on PS4 back in stock and with the former on 20 percent discount via Amazon Prime.

Priced at $59.99, the Day One Edition includes a copy of "Dark Souls 3," a Prima Starter Guide and the game's official soundtrack packaged in an exclusive O-Sleeve. The Collected Editions, which is priced at $129.99, adds the game's official art book, a cloth game map and a 10-inch Red Knight Statue.
