It's been a year since Maksim Chmerkovskiy impressed "Dancing With the Stars" fans with his stellar dance routines with partner Meryl Davis, which led to their season 18 win. Maks is undoubtedly one of the most talked about pros in the hit ABC show, and although he has announced that he won't be back for another season, that hasn't stop fans from hoping that he'll change his mind and return for another spin on the dance floor.

Now that his brother Val has won the golden Mirror Ball Trophy with Rumer Willis during the recently concluded 20th season of the show, many are wondering whether Maks isn't tempted to give "DWTS" another go. And now, in an interview with Glamour magazine, the 35-year old confirmed that he's really done with the show.

When asked by the magazine if he'll ever return to the show, Maks said, "Definitely not. You have to walk away when the time is right, and the time was right."

The dancer said that having new faces onstage is essential in keeping things fresh on "DWTS" and in getting more fans for the show.

"I think the change of guard is necessary…Every now and again, everything needs to be refreshed. Me, Cheryl [Burke], Karina [Smirnoff], the few of us leaving…Tony [Dovolani] is still around, but I don't know for how long," he added.

Maks won his first Mirror Ball Trophy on season 18 after 14 seasons competing in the show. He was known for feuding with judges, often arguing with the panel when he disagreed with their comments about his partners' performances.

In season 13, he infamously told former co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet after a particularly tense exchange with the judges, "This is my show. I helped make it what it was."

Although he won't be back as a pro, Maks told Entertainment Tonight that he's open to be in "DWTS" in another capacity, perhaps, as often speculated, as a judge.

"I'm not coming back because I don't have the contract, and I've moved on with my life," he told ET. "I will entertain the idea of being part of the show in some other capacity."
