CD Projekt Red is cooking up an immersive open-world role-playing game (RPG) experience for the gamers via Cyberpunk 2077. So far, the public's reception on the previous teasers for the upcoming video game has been positive, which is a good sign that the Polish game studio will have another prized gem after "The Witcher 3." Unfortunately, there is one detail that the players are not too excited about, which is the game being patterned to a "Games as a Service" model.

As reported by IGN, there are speculations that "Cyberpunk 2077" will follow a "Games as a Service" model, which will allow microtransactions in the game. This is the same system applied to this year's AAA game titles, with the most infamous one being "Star Wars: Battlefront II." To note, microtransactions involve in-game purchase of loot boxes and unlockable special items, making the game more profitable. This would also lead to power imbalance, with others gaining unfair advantage over other players by spending actual money.

The good news is that CD Projekt Red promises that the mistakes in microtransaction will not be repeated in "Cyberpunk 2077." Using their Twitter account, the studio said that fans will pretty much have the same experience as in "The Witcher 3," which is a "huge single player, open world, story-driven RPG."

Rumors about "Games as a Service" model coming to "Cyberpunk 2077" originated from a recent interview with Adam Kicinskito, a CD Projekt Red employee. According to Kicinskito, the studio may decide to include online contents to "Cyberpunk 2077," which are needed for the game to "achieve a long-term success." Issues about CD Projekt Red looking for ways to gain more profit have surfaced, with YouTuber known as Pretty Boy Gaming speculating that the upcoming game will be filled with microtransactions.

Going back to CD Projekt Red's statement, the studio emphasized that "Cyberpunk 2077" has "no hidden catch," and the players can expect pure "honest gaming" without having to worry about spending dollars to do well in the game.

There is no official announcement yet regarding the release date of "Cyberpunk 2077." Based on CD Projekt Red's recent update, the game will be "far, far bigger" than any other titles that they have done before.
