Filming for season 12 of "Criminal Minds" is about to begin, based on the update from the set of the police procedural drama.

The first table read from the season started Friday last week, showing the entire cast gathered to read the scripts for the upcoming season. Co-executive producer Harry Bring shared several photos of the table read via his Twitter account.

Bring also shared the photo of the call sheet for episode 1, titled "The Crimson King." It shows that the premiere episode will open with a shot at the Arizona State Highway where a character named Brian will ask for help from the police. The team will also investigate inside the house of another character, named Chelsea Carter. However, there are no details yet about the plot of the episode.

But fans of the show were surprised when the people behind the show shared a photo of cast members Joe Mantegna and Matthew Grey Gubler after the first table read of the season. They were joined by former co-star Shemar Moore, whose character Derek Morgan opted to quit the Behavioral Analysis Unit of FBI in season 11 to live a peaceful life with his family. Does it mean that there is still a chance to see Morgan back in the series in season 12?

Meanwhile, other speculations claim that former regular cast member Paget Brewster's character Emily Prentiss will drop by the BAU headquarters again for the upcoming season. She left the team in season 7 to join the Interpol, but she still returns from time to time whenever the team needs her help. She was last seen in season 11 when she helped catch an international serial killer.

However, both Brewster and the show remains mum about her possible return to the long-running police procedural series.

"Criminal Minds" season 12 is scheduled to premiere on CBS on Wednesday, Sept. 28.
