'Criminal Minds' season 11 finale spoilers: BAU member in grave danger?

Hotch (Thomas Gibson) is in trouble in the season 11 finale of "Criminal Minds." CBS

The BAU already lost one of their own when Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore) left the team to live a simpler, safer life. But it seems they're about to lose another one in the finale of "Criminal Minds" season 11.

The synopsis for "Criminal Minds" season 11 finale, titled "The Storm," implies that a member of the BAU is possibly facing an early demise, but it does not specify who.

According to the synopsis for the upcoming episode, "The BAU is shocked when Hotch is apprehended by a SWAT team and suspected of conspiracy, and as the team scrambles to prove his innocence, they suspect a larger plot is on the horizon."

In the previous episode, Hotch (Thomas Gibson) earned the ire of the imprisoned serial killer named Antonia (Frances Fisher) when he managed to get hold of vital information about her past.

Hotch found out that Antonia had a baby when she was 15 years old, but she has no idea what happened to the child, whose father forced Antonia to deliver her in her own home. Her father also killed her boyfriend that time.

Antonia was not happy when Hotch dug her secrets. As a retaliation, the serial killer warned him, "There's a storm coming, Agent Hotchner. And you're about to be swept away."

Is she plotting to have the BAU agent killed?

Meanwhile, the future of "Criminal Minds" remains in limbo as CBS continues to keep mum about the subject. It has been said that the network is still weighing down their options because the show is very expensive to produce. However, the show remains one of the network's most in-demand shows internationally. This could give the show a boost for a potential season 12 renewal.

"Criminal Minds" season 11 finale airs on Wednesday, May 4.
