The Golden State Warriors will play the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals 2015 Game 6 on Tuesday night as LeBron James looks to inspire his team to a win that would extend this series all the way to a winner takes all Game 7. The Warriors go on the road today looking to finish things at the first attempt, knowing a win today would capture them the NBA Championship title.
However, the Cavaliers are unlikely to go quietly into the night, and an LeBron James inspired team will be looking to get their home fans riled up with a top performance and win to take things back to California for a Game 7.
LeBron James has had one of the best NBA Finals performances of all time; consistently leading from the front in each of the five games so far. However, to this point it has not been enough and his team is on the verge of losing out to the Warriors. That means even though James has given so much so far, he must do more tonight to get his team over the line and claim a third win to level things up once more.
Stephen Curry meanwhile will be hoping that his team can end things tonight. They are just one win from the golden trophy, and they will not want to lose tonight and allow things to go to a winner takes all match up, even if it is at home.
If the Warriors can win tonight they will win their first NBA title since 1975. In Game 6, Curry scored 17 of his total 37 points in the final quarter, and it did not go unnoticed that almost every time James scored to pull the Cavaliers back, Curry sank a beauty of his own to keep Cleveland at arms distance in the 104-91 win.
However, LeBron James believes his team can ruin the party tonight. He has said, "We've got enough to win it. I feel confident."
He added, "I don't put a ceiling on what I'm capable of doing. I know I'm shouldering a lot of the burden, but it is what it is."
James is averaging 36.6 points, 12.5 rebounds and 8.8 assists in this NBA Finals series so far. He is trying his best to pull up the slack left by All-Stars Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love being out, and seeing his performances has been something to remember for NBA fans. However, whether he will ultimately fall short despite the record-breaking effort remains to be seen tonight.
But if Curry remains in his recent form then it may prove to be too much for James to overcome. The league's MVP ended Game 5 with dehydration, according to reports, but he has been confirmed to have recovered since then and will be at his best tonight to try and finish things off.
