"Civilization VI," developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games, is a familiar game to many, but for newcomers, it is a complex strategy game. Here are some tips and tricks to gain some edge over the other AI civilization.

Water is very important to any development. History has shown that the early settlements were always near a body of water. This is also true in the game. Gamers should consider starting a civilization near a body of water to get things going. Water is crucial not only for food production but also for building structures, according to GameNGuide.

Exploring the map is also vital in winning in "Civilization VI." Knowing the surrounding terrain gives a player the necessary information in the construction of housing, military structures, for food production, and research facilities. Early scouting will also open up trade to another discovered civilization.

Kotaku recommends building up one's army in the early stages of the game in order to put defenses. Unlike the previous version of the game, the latest game does not include city defense at the beginning of a game. Players can expect barbarians, as well as other AI civilizations, to conduct raids. Additionally, one can also use the army to attack other civilizations they have scouted earlier.

It is also suggested that before building a district, players should check the area for some resources first. Sending a builder over an area can let players claim the resources first before starting any construction. It also gives a bigger bonus as compared to conquering it first.

Careful planning is the core of the game. Big bonuses can be achieved for districts that can use four to six tiles. Building cities close together has an advantage since more will benefit when it is time to build an industrial zone. Erecting power plants will also benefit more if the cities are close to each other.

The game offers several routes in order to achieve world dominance. One can use brute force for other civilizations to bow down, or one can use religion, for a more peaceful way. Science and cultural victory are also options

"Civilization VI" is now available for the Windows PC and OS X machines.
